Class Information:

We are a very hardworking mixed year 3 and 4 class with 25 children. Each week our learning includes: reading; writing; maths and topic. Alongside this R.E, P.E, Spanish and computing make up our busy weekly curriculum.

Homework will be given out each Friday. Pupils will be given a book to complete this work, the book should be returned by Tuesday in order for feedback to be given.

Weekly homework includes:

-      Class spellings

-      Recap of math’s

-      Short literacy activity

-      Some topic research

We expect pupils to complete homework every week, if not completed by Tuesday pupils may be expected to do the work during break times.

P.E. (curriculum map) takes place twice a week on a Wednesday and Friday.  Pupils are expected to bring in appropriate P.E kit which should include a t-shirt, shorts/jogging bottoms and trainers or daps (no football shirts, skirts, vest tops).

Reading is a key focus in Hedgehogs class with many opportunities to read for pleasure throughout the day. Class guided reading takes place every day with the aim of building pupils’ understanding within a variety of texts. We will regularly read with pupils ensuring they have a fresh supply of books to promote a love of reading.

We need you: Our pupils enjoy learning and we love inspiring them to learn more, but we can only do that with help from home.  Please listen to your child read at least three times a week and update their reading record accordingly. Furthermore, please encourage them to complete their homework and bring PE kit to school.

Term 1: 'Bright Sparks'

The subject focus for this topic is science and design and technology. Children will be introduced to the topic through a trip to @Bristol where they will attend an electricity workshop. We will be designing and creating our own electricity posters to begin with to get a better understanding of some of the uses, sources and dangers that electricity provides!
